Mean Machine

Survival of the fittest…. Something I learned when I started my business studies. It is not just a term taken lightly as a rule of thumb that requires cramming; rather it’s the rule of life. You act for your own self and you survive, you start thinking about the others, and you descend into the bottom of the rotten fish tank near your neighborhood. And many a times everyone comes across people who interact with you as long as it is beneficial. I myself am among one of those people. What I fail to realize at that time is that the same could backfire one day and I can suffer the exact humiliation. Guilty conscience as you call it, is not something bestowed upon all human beings, rather it is something only gifted to a very few (which I btw call cursed). And they are unlucky since they do the wrong with the guilt of doing the wrong, and do the good by sacrificing themselves. The ones without the “Inner voice” (the righteous one) are free to enjoy what they do, no matter how bad it is.
And there are times when you meet people who appear to be the most self righteous ones there ever were. People in front of who even your morals of the highest orders start to hide face. You try to act like a civilized person, being conscious all the time about your image. “What will he/she think about me? “ You automatically declare them as judgmental (being judgmental yourself while declaring that :P ), and your worst fear is to be judged. And you ARE judged. That’s when you feel terrible about yourself. But no worries, here is when the Rule of uhhh the index finger comes into place :D “Appearances are deceptive”. That’s right. Eventually the high expectations come down; you start feeling better about yourself. They fail to meet up your idealistic standards. They are human beings after all, what did you expect? :P

  1. The corporate world is a rat race and one has to decide their own rules on how to survive.

If one can stand by their decisions, that should give them less headache but then again we are humans with emotions which has the habit of messing it all :)
